Zoe Vélez

Director of Flamenkisimo

Over the past 25 years, Zoe has had a prolific career as a Flamenco Dancer/Singer and also as a professional Actor/Singer/Dancer. She has performed extensively with top Australian Flamenco Artists at theatres, tablaos, weddings and corporate events and is one of only a handful of Flamenco Singers in Australia.

Wholly dedicated to bringing Flamenco to Australian stages, Zoe has completed several intensive study courses in Spain. During her career as an Actor, Dancer and Singer, Zoe has:

Flamenco Biography

As a flamenco artist, Zoe has been in constant demand on the professional stages and event halls of Sydney. She has danced and choreographed for Flamenco Soul, danced with Flamenco Australia, sung for Flamenco Women Productions, Studio Flamenco Adelaide, Flamenco Red and Amaya Flamenco. During 2000 to 2010 she was a constant feature at two Sydney tablaos: 'The Spanish Club Restaurant' and 'La Campana' dancing with live guitarand song. From 2000 to 2004 she performed with mastermind producer Jose Calarco (Flamenco Dreaming/Descendance) in a range of large-scale shows fusing flamenco, contemporary and indigenous dance.

Flamenco Singing

In 2012, Zoe completed a one year Diploma of Flamenco Singing at the esteemed Fundacion Christina

Heeren in Sevilla. She lived in Sevilla for one year, studying full-time and taking in as many Flamenco

shows as possible. At the fundacion, she studied with some outstanding Spanish Flamenco Singers

and worked on mastering Flamenco singing techniques and her Spanish language abilities.
